In the latest round of the Demerara Cricket Board’s ‘Next Generation’ Under-15 competition, Shahid Ramzan and Satindra Shiwdarsan emerged as standout performers, leading their respective teams to victories on Thursday.
Ramzan, the captain of Select XI, played a key role in his team’s six-wicket victory over East Bank at Farm.
Fresh off a strong three-wicket haul the previous day, Ramzan produced an outstanding spell of 4-13 to dismantle East Bank’s middle order, sending them packing for just 105 in 23 overs.
Supporting Ramzan was new-ball bowler Jasani Craig, who took 3-19, further reducing East Bank’s total.
Ramzan then anchored the chase with an unbeaten 42 off 40 balls, guiding his team to a comfortable 106-4 in 18 overs.
Contributions from Nathan Puran (16) and Roscoe Anderson (9) ensured Select XI’s victory.
At LBI, East Coast claimed a 54-run win over West Demerara, thanks to an all-round effort from Satindra Shiwdarsan.
Shiwdarsan, a leg-spinner, took 3-22 and top-scored with 38 runs, helping East Coast post a total of 153 in 33.1 overs.
Akeem Persaud (24) and Junior Dindyal (22) also contributed valuable runs.
In response, West Demerara struggled, being bowled out for 99 in 32.1 overs.
Shiwdarsan, along with left-arm spinner Nathaniel Sukhnandan, who took 3-23, combined to secure East Coast’s victory.
The competition continues this weekend with the final round of matches to determine the Demerara squad for the 2025 Inter-County tournament.
