by Josiah Williams

The Suriname Guyana Chamber of Commerce (SGCC) has commended the Guyana Energy Conference for providing valuable exposure and facilitating essential business connections.

According to Chief Executive Officer Rahul Lildhar, participating members of the chamber have reported significant successes at this year’s energy conference and supply chain expo.

Lildhar highlighted the diverse sectors in which SGCC members operate and emphasized the positive experiences they have had during the conference.

This event provided a platform for networking, partnership building, and establishing new clientele, benefiting businesses across various industries.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Chamber, Dr. Vishnu Doerga, noted that there are over 50 Surinamese companies currently operating in Guyana, with approximately 10 Guyanese companies operating in Suriname.

Dr. Doerga announced plans for the SGCC to participate in the Suriname Energy Conference scheduled for June, aiming to facilitate exposure for both Guyanese and Surinamese companies.

Dr. Doerga emphasized the chamber’s role in providing opportunities for members to gain insight and access into new markets.

He expressed the chamber’s commitment to supporting its members in navigating the complexities of cross-border business ventures.

Established in August of the previous year with 60 founding members, the Suriname Guyana Chamber of Commerce has seen significant growth, with a recent surge in membership applications.

This expansion underscores the chamber’s importance in fostering bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Suriname and Guyana.

As both countries continue to explore avenues for collaboration and economic development, the SGCC remains dedicated to facilitating meaningful partnerships and business opportunities for its members.
