The Guyana Conference of Seventh Day Adventists (SDA) held a career fair on Sunday at Durban Park under the theme “Innovate, Create, Inspire.”

The event offered a range of career-building opportunities, including motivational talks, resume creation assistance, interview preparation, and personalized career coaching from professionals.

Lennox Jason, the Youth Ministries Director of the Guyana Conference of SDA, emphasized that the church’s youth department is dedicated to supporting young people in all aspects of their lives, including their mental, social, and professional well-being.

He noted that the annual career fair serves as an important initiative to guide young individuals in making informed career choices.

Representatives from the Board of Industrial Training (BIT) and the Guyana Police Force were also present to provide guidance and opportunities for skill development and career advancement.

Richard Maughn from BIT highlighted the importance of training individuals from the age of 15 and above to help them develop marketable skills.

The program is designed to prepare them for employment, especially as the job market continues to evolve.

Sergeant Travis Christie of the Guyana Police Force shared insights into the various career paths available within the police force, emphasizing the potential for personal and academic growth within the organization.

He encouraged young attendees to take advantage of the opportunities to advance their studies and work toward career progression.
