Serving confidence: Guyana welcomes Texas De Brazil

Guyana’s tourism story continues to unfold, this time, through flavor and fine dining.

An internationally recognized Brazilian steakhouse has officially opened its doors in Georgetown, adding another global brand to the country’s growing hospitality landscape and signaling increasing confidence in Guyana as a destination for world-class experiences.

Texas de Brazil officially hosted its ribbon-cutting ceremony, four months after its soft opening in September 2025.

The steakhouse, blending Brazilian and American cuisine, marks another addition to Guyana’s hospitality landscape.

For Chairman of the Chin Group, Derek Chin, the moment was deeply personal as is the result of years of patience, belief, and faith in Guyana long before oil changed the national narrative.

Chin traced the journey back to a chance encounter with the brand nearly two decades ago, a relationship that would eventually place Guyana alongside destinations like Aruba, Trinidad, Panama, and major cities across the United States and beyond.

“We’ve had almost three months of trying things out, and hoping that everything works, the meats are right, the right temperatures, the salads and everything are there. For you, the guy needs to enjoy what is truly an international, high reputation restaurant and dining experience,” Chin said.

More than a restaurant opening, the night marked another signal of Guyana’s growing presence on the global stage.

Minister of Tourism, Susan Rodrigues, described the arrival of Texas de Brazil as evidence that the country is no longer watching from the sidelines but actively competing in the international tourism arena.

We are going to play in that league. We are not spectators anymore. We are coming for the market hard, and we are coming to be successful. Today is evidence of that success with an international brand like Texas de Brazil opening here in Guyana,” she asserted.

Rodrigues highlighted that tourism is defined by experiences, including food, service, and atmosphere, which leave lasting impressions on visitors.

She emphasised that such investments generate jobs, support local suppliers, and position Guyana as an appealing destination for both exploration and world-class dining.

The evening celebrated Guyana’s expanding culinary scene and its strengthened role in the tourism industry.
