Sergeant Quincy Lacon, better known by his stage name “Ego,” emerged as the 2025 Senior Calypso Monarch after an electrifying performance of his hit song, “Nah Trade Guyana.”

His powerful delivery dethroned the previous year’s champion, OKC, as he claimed the prestigious title on Main Street, where the competition took place.

The event saw 15 talented artistes competing for the crown, including three members of the Guyana Police Force—two Sergeants and a Special Constable.

Ego stood out with his theatrical and energetic performance, which featured dramatic storytelling, engaging dances, and compelling stage movements that captivated both the audience and the judges.

In second place was Roger Hinds, known as Young Bill Rogers, while Vinel Hinds secured third place.

The crowd was left chanting in unison, “never trade Guyana,” as Ego’s performance and stage presence earned him the top honor.
