Santos FC secured their most significant victory of the KFC Elite League Season 6 against Berbice side Monedderlust at the Guyana Football Federation National Training Center.
After a slow start to their league campaign, Santos FC showcased their prowess in the Elite League, moving up three places on the league table to fifth with a dominant performance.
The match was heavily one-sided as Santos overwhelmed Monedderlust, clinching a commanding six-nil win.
Stephan Reynolds opened the scoring for Santos in the 3rd minute, followed by winger Ravi Coates doubling the lead 20 minutes later.
Ian Daniels contributed to the goal-scoring spree in the 26th minute, while Randy Roberts extended the lead with a goal in the 40th minute, taking the score to 4-nil at halftime.
In the second half, Michael Oie sealed the victory with two goals, scoring in the 64th and 80th minute, ensuring a comfortable win for Santos.
At the top of the points table, reigning champions Guyana Defence Force lead with 18 points from six wins in as many games.
Slingerz closely trail with the same points but are second due to GDF’s superior goal difference.
Guyana Police Force sits third with 18 points from six wins in seven outings, while Western Tigers occupies the fourth spot with nine points from three wins in six matches.
Fruta Conquerors, Den Amstel, Ann’s Grove United, Buxton United, and bottom-placed Monedderlust, who are yet to secure a win, complete the top 10 teams in the league.
League action will resume with Den Amstel facing Slingerz and GDF taking on Ann’s Grove on Saturday.
