In Thursday’s matches at the Guyana Football Federation’s National Training Center, Santos and Fruta Conquerors emerged victorious in the ongoing KFC Elite League, as reported by Eric Collyemore.
Santos Football Club maintained their fourth-place position in the KFC Elite League standings with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Den Amstel.
Ian Daniels opened the scoring for Santos in the 19th minute, and the score remained unchanged at halftime.
The game intensified after the break, with Andrew Simmons extending Santos’ lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 76th minute.
Despite a late goal by Den Amstel’s Roundel Hutson in injury time, Santos held on to secure the win.
In the night’s other matchup, Fruta Conquerors faced off against Buxton United, who have struggled this season with only one draw and nine losses in ten games.
Fruta Conquerors took an early lead when Antwone Denny scored soon after the opening whistle.
Makhaya Jervis doubled the lead just before halftime, with the score remaining 2-0 until the final whistle despite efforts from both sides in the second half.
The victory lifted Fruta Conquerors to fifth place in the standings, displacing Western Tigers, marking their fifth win in twelve matches this season.
