Action in the ExxonMobil Under-14 school’s football tournament saw thrilling performances over the weekend, with Santa Rosa and Bartica Secondary emerging victorious in the girls’ category at the Ministry of Education ground.
In a dominant display, Santa Rosa, led by Veronica Chatta, showcased their prowess against Abram Zuil with an impressive nine-nil victory.
Chatta led from the front with an outstanding performance, scoring five goals during the match.
She opened the scoring spree early on, netting in the 4th, 5th, and 6th minutes, setting the tone for Santa Rosa’s commanding lead.
Maria Atkinson contributed with goals in the 16th and 22nd minutes, while Anelisa Robinson added her name to the scoresheet with a strike in the 28th minute, cementing Santa Rosa’s dominance.
Meanwhile, Bartica Secondary also delivered a commendable performance against Cotton Field Secondary, securing a convincing six-nil win.
Nerismar Williams stole the spotlight for Bartica Secondary with an exceptional display, scoring four goals in the 5th, 10th, 13th, and 16th minutes.
Keyls Williams and Nerismar continued their scoring spree in the 25th and 27th minutes, respectively, ensuring Bartica’s comprehensive victory.
In the boys’ category, Patentia Secondary emerged victorious with a three-nil win over New Campbellville Secondary.
Floyd Thomas, Nigel Sulker, and Jadon Bourne played pivotal roles in securing Patentia’s win, highlighting their team’s strength and determination.
Throughout the day, other schools including Leonora Secondary, Bushlot, President’s College, Three Mile, Chase Academic Foundation, and School of Nations also celebrated victories in their respective matches, showcasing the competitive spirit and talent in youth football across Guyana.
