Saipem Guyana Inc is set to bolster its operations with the establishment of a new construction facility on the newly constructed artificial island in Region 3 of the Demerara River.

The announcement was made by Gianluigi Della Rosa, the Country Manager of Saipem Guyana Inc, during their technical forum on the final day of the Energy Conference.

Della Rosa revealed that Exxon will provide Saipem with 20 acres of the artificial island for the new facility, which is expected to be operational in the coming weeks or months.

This additional facility will complement their existing one in Georgetown and will focus on storage, logistics, and fabrication to accommodate the construction of more complex equipment.

Currently, Saipem employs ninety-nine individuals directly in Guyana.

They have also implemented extensive training programs, offering over 5000 annual man-hours of training and establishing internship programs in collaboration with schools and the University of Guyana.

Saipem, an Italian oilfield and engineering services provider, has secured all six subsea equipment contracts for ExxonMobil’s six FPSOs, solidifying its position as a key player in Guyana’s energy sector.

With the establishment of the new construction facility, Saipem is poised to further contribute to Guyana’s energy landscape and strengthen its partnership with ExxonMobil.
