Approximately 190 students attending the Overwinning Primary School in Islington Village, East Bank Berbice, now have access to clean drinking water, thanks to a collaborative effort between the Rotary Club of New Amsterdam and the Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

The “Public School Clean Water Initiative” was launched to address the need for clean water facilities in the school.

Over the course of three months, a permanent water station was constructed to ensure that students have access to safe and clean drinking water during school hours.

During the opening ceremony of the water station, Raffick Kassim, President of the Rotary Club of New Amsterdam, expressed gratitude to the Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for their generous sponsorship of the project.

He highlighted the significant contribution made by the sponsoring organization, which amounted to one million and six hundred and nine thousand dollars.

Kassim emphasized the importance of collaboration and expressed appreciation for the ongoing support received from the organization over the years.

In response, a representative of the Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints reiterated their commitment to supporting initiatives that align with their values.

They expressed happiness and willingness to continue the partnership with the Rotary Club in Guyana and other organizations that seek to improve the welfare of citizens.

Additionally, through another collaborative effort, a recreational park valued at more than one million dollars was constructed for residents of Region Six, further enhancing community development initiatives in the area.

The successful collaboration between the Rotary Club of New Amsterdam and the Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints demonstrates the positive impact that can be achieved through partnership and collective action in addressing critical needs within communities.
