The second annual Rockstone Fish Extravaganza is set to take place this weekend in Region 10, with festivities scheduled for October 21 and 22.
Organized by the Rockstone Village Council, the event aims to spotlight the community as one of Region 10’s premier tourist destinations.
Flagan Carter, Toshao of the Village, expressed the council’s commitment to ensuring that the community reaps substantial benefits from this year’s extravaganza.
Building upon the success of the inaugural event held last year, the organizers have put together a diverse program of activities.
The first day is slated to include inter-village football and cricket competitions, cultural presentations, and overnight camping, among other attractions.
On the second day, the focus will shift to novelty games and main events.
Coordinator Deino Williams highlighted some of the exciting competitions planned, including kayaking races, contests for the best fish hat and fish costume, fish deboning, and archery competitions.
The weekend will culminate in a lively concert.
With Rockstone’s budding prospects in tourism, discussions have already been initiated regarding fish conservation, sustainability, and capacity-building initiatives for the village.
This year’s Rockstone Fish Extravaganza promises a blend of sport, culture, competition, and entertainment, making it an event eagerly anticipated by both locals and visitors alike.
