RideGY introduces a new standard for transportation in Guyana, built on homegrown technology

-Vetted drivers, PIN-protected pickups, transparent upfront fares, and live GPS tracking for every trip — on iPhone, Android, and the web

RideGY Inc. today announced the nationwide launch of RideGY, a ride-hailing service designed and built in Guyana. Available on iPhone, on Android, and from any browser at ride.gy, RideGY replaces the roadside wait and the telephone dispatcher with a single application that manages the entire journey: the request, the match, the route, the fare, and the record of it all.

Guyana is among the fastest-growing economies in the world, yet the way most Guyanese travel has changed little in decades. The price of a taxi is still settled at the moment, the wait is unpredictable, and the rider and driver meet as strangers. RideGY’s technology has been engineered to scale with Guyana’s rapid growth, allowing new services and innovations to be introduced without rebuilding the platform.

When a rider requests a trip, RideGY automatically assigns the nearest available driver; there is no dispatcher to call and no fare to negotiate. The fare is calculated and shown before the journey begins, and the price the rider sees is the price the rider pays. Every trip is tracked by GPS from pickup to drop-off, with live arrival estimates, in-app messaging, digital receipts, and a two-way rating system that promotes accountability for both riders and drivers. RideGY’s support team monitors the platform continuously and is available whenever riders or drivers need assistance. While technology powers every journey from beginning to end, people remain at the heart of the experience.

Rather than dispatching rides, RideGY’s support team is focused on ensuring the platform operates reliably while providing riders and drivers with real people to speak to whenever questions arise or support is needed.

RideGY was created by a team with decades of experience delivering enterprise technology, software engineering, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity solutions across international markets. That experience has been applied to building a transportation platform that meets global standards while solving the unique challenges of Guyana. Where many ride-hailing services license dispatch software designed for other markets, RideGY designs and runs its own matching, routing, safety systems, and apps, on infrastructure the company operates and monitors itself around the clock.

The product is built for how Guyanese actually address, speak, and pay, and rider and driver feedback can be acted on in days rather than quarters.

Safety at every stage

Every driver is identified and vetted before carrying passengers: RideGY reviews each application, licence, and vehicle before a driver is allowed online. Before a journey begins, rider and driver confirm a unique four-digit PIN, so passengers enter the right car and drivers collect the right customer. Rides are GPS-tracked for their full duration, and a rider can send family or friends a private live link to watch the trip as it happens.

The app also carries a built-in SOS function. Activating it alerts RideGY’s safety team with the rider’s live location; the team follows the trip, contacts rider and driver, and, where neither can be reached, may arrange for a nearby RideGY representative or trusted driver to check on the rider. SOS complements the national emergency services rather than replacing them; in a genuine emergency, riders are always advised to contact emergency services first. The system watches for trouble, too: if a trip stops unexpectedly or strays far from its route, RideGY checks in with the rider directly.

Riders can designate trusted contacts, and may request a driver by gender, an option designed especially for women travelling alone at night.

More than one way to travel

Riders can schedule journeys in advance, add stops to a trip, and change destination mid-ride with the fare recalculated openly. For longer engagements, the hire-a-driver service lets a rider book a specific driver by the hour or the day, browsing profiles by rating, spoken language, verification status, and vehicle, and messaging the driver before booking. Each driver carries a shareable RideGY code, so one who has earned a customer’s trust can be found and booked again. Drivers list the languages they speak, from English and Guyanese Creolese to Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, and Hindi; riders can state a preference, and the app itself is available in six languages.

Riders pay however suits them: cash, a bank card kept securely on file, Apple Pay on iPhone, or MMG mobile money. A prepaid RideGY balance can be topped up by card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay, and the service is open to customers overseas: a visitor or relative abroad can pay with a foreign card and reserve a driver in Guyana before ever landing. Whatever the method, the fare is the same, and riders earn RideGY Miles on every kilometre travelled, redeemable against future trips alongside referral rewards and promotional codes.

A business in every driver’s seat

For drivers, RideGY turns guesswork into earnings. Instead of circling for fares, drivers are matched with nearby demand and alerted when riders in their area are waiting. Every trip produces a transparent earnings breakdown, and every driver can download a full statement of income, a documented record most Guyanese drivers have never had and one that can support a loan application or the purchase of a second vehicle.

The commission is deliberately modest, so drivers keep the large majority of every fare, and riders can add a tip after any trip; every dollar of a tip goes to the driver. Performance bonuses, driver-referral rewards, and a driver Miles programme sit on top, and a driver heading home at the end of a shift can even ask for trips that run in that direction. Drivers also look out for one another: A road-reporting feature lets any driver flag an accident, flooding, or a closure from the map, and the report appears instantly for other drivers and RideGY’s operations team.

For companies, business , hotels, offices, and other organisations arrange vetted drivers for staff and guests, with proper receipts for accounting.

RideGY is already recruiting drivers across the country and is actively building partnerships with hotels, restaurants, tourism, and community organisations — with more to come in the months ahead.
