Ride Along GY Launches New Cycling Experience in Bartica to Boost Tourism

By Delicia Janneire

In a significant boost to local tourism, Ride Along GY has officially launched its bicycle tour experience in Bartica, aimed at enhancing the town’s appeal to visitors.

The initiative, part of the Discover Essequibo Circuit Project, seeks to offer a unique way to explore Bartica’s scenic landscapes and key landmarks.

The newly introduced bicycle tours are designed to provide participants with a detailed view of Bartica’s hilly terrain and noteworthy sites.

The route highlights various points of interest, including the Cenotaph Monument, Bartica’s business hub, and Golden Beach along the boardwalk, where visitors can view the town’s oldest structure.

Candace Phillips, Manager of the Product Development Unit at the Guyana Tourism Authority, outlined that this new experience aims to address a gap in local tourism activities.

By offering both short and extended cycling options, the initiative seeks to attract visitors who may arrive via boat and are looking for immediate activities, as well as those interested in spending more time exploring Bartica.

The project, which has been in development for three years, is part of a larger strategy to enhance tourism in the Essequibo region.

Local leaders, including Mayor Anthony Murray, have expressed strong support for the initiative, recognizing it as a positive step for the town’s tourism industry.

Cherry-Ann Greene, the Proprietor of Ride Along, has emphasized the collaborative nature of the project, noting partnerships with local businesses to integrate tracking technology into the bicycles, further enhancing the cycling experience.

The tour starts at First Street by the ‘One Guyana’ sign and features a well-planned route that includes significant local landmarks and historical sites.

This development aims to provide visitors with an engaging and memorable experience while contributing to the overall growth of Bartica’s tourism sector.
