Hundreds of residents in Region Three embraced the spirit of Easter by coming together with their families and friends for a day of bonding and celebration on Easter Monday.
NCN News captured the heartwarming moments as families engaged in various activities, including cooking, kite flying, and gaming, to mark the occasion.
Under the bright sunshine, families across Region Three enjoyed a vibrant and festive Easter Monday with their loved ones.
Community grounds and playfields were bustling with activity as families gathered in large numbers to partake in the festivities.
At Bushy Park in Parika, NCN News had the opportunity to speak with several individuals who shared their experiences of the day.
Jasoda Sahai, a resident, reminisced about the joyous Easter celebrations of her childhood, highlighting the tradition of flying kites with family and friends on the beach.
“It is a lovely day, a lovely Monday, and this reminds me back in the days when I lived in Guyana for 30 years. We celebrated Easter on the beach every Easter Monday with the kids flying kites and friends and families. We have a lovely time and enjoy it,” Sahai expressed nostalgically.
Another resident, Antonio, emphasized the importance of cherishing moments with family, particularly noting the significance of reunions with loved ones who may be visiting from overseas.
“You have to enjoy your time with the family. Not every time you are going to see your family. My mom came from overseas for different reasons, but still, we had to come out because you don’t know when you are going to see them back again,” Antonio reflected.
Conrad Sinclair, echoing the sentiments of camaraderie and togetherness, described the scene at the park where families gathered with food and drinks to enjoy each other’s company.
“We are hanging out. We brought our food, our beer, the usual thing that Guyanese do. We are having a good time. We cooked before, our curry, and then we come here. We are having a good time,” Sinclair shared.
Meanwhile, at the Jalousie Family Park on the West Coast of Demerara, Flavia, a mother enjoying the festivities with her family, expressed delight in their first-time experience at the park and the enjoyable kite-flying activities.
“It is the first time for us here. We are usually at [another] park, but this year we are all the way down to the West Coast, and it is really nice. We have a nice time flying these kites, and we don’t have any complaints about the breeze,” Flavia remarked happily.
The Easter celebrations in Region Three epitomized the joy of spending quality time with loved ones, fostering bonds, and creating cherished memories.
