The Regional Democratic Council (RDC) of Region Six hosted its annual Senior Citizen’s Luncheon, recognizing 60 Berbicians who have significantly contributed to various aspects of regional development.
The event is part of the RDC’s Mashramani celebration activities, themed “Celebrating Our Peoples and Our Prosperity” this year.
Regional Chairman, David Armogan, expressed gratitude to the seniors for their unwavering support and dedication in advancing development across the region.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to treating senior citizens well, acknowledging their substantial contributions to Guyana’s progress.
Armogan highlighted the government’s efforts to provide relief for the elderly through initiatives such as increasing the old age pension and enhancing medical care.
Regional Executive Officer, Narindra Persaud, stressed the importance of spending quality time with seniors, interacting with them, and sharing meals as part of the regional officials’ commitment to fulfilling the mandate of a unified Guyana.
Several senior citizens expressed their appreciation to the Regional Democratic Council and the government for undertaking initiatives that recognize and honor their contributions.
The luncheon serves as a meaningful occasion to celebrate and express gratitude to the elderly population in Region Six.
