Region Six Overseers Receive Training for Standardized Governance

The Local Government Commission (LGC) conducted a two-day training program for overseers and assistant overseers in Region Six, Guyana.

The aim of the training is to standardize governance systems across the region.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to equip officials from various local government bodies with fundamental financial management skills.

Julius Faerber, Chairman of the Local Government Commission, highlighted that the training program will be extended to other administrative regions.

The decision to implement such training arose from a comprehensive visit to all regions in 2021, where a need for essential training for staff was identified.

The training covered crucial areas such as financial and account management, bank reconciliation, financial report preparation, and procurement procedures.

It took place at the Regional Democratic Council Boardroom in New Amsterdam.

This initiative reflects a commitment to enhance the performance of overseers and assistant overseers throughout the region.

The Chairman emphasized that this training will continue in the coming months, contributing to improved governance practices in local government bodies.
