The Regional Democratic Council of Region Six kicked off the holiday season with its Annual Christmas Village Light-Up and Toy Distribution on Wednesday at the New Amsterdam Recreational Park.
The festive event drew thousands of residents from across the region.
Dr. Ashni Singh, Minister within the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, delivered Christmas greetings, emphasizing the spiritual and celebratory importance of the season.
He noted that Christmas is a time for joy, family, and celebration, resonating with both its biblical significance and its role in uniting communities.
Regional Chairman, David Armogan, also addressed the crowd, highlighting the government’s commitment to promoting not only Christmas but all holidays with great enthusiasm.
The event culminated in the lighting of the Christmas Village by Minister Singh, marking the official start of the festivities.
Children in attendance were delighted to receive toys and treats, adding to the festive cheer and making the occasion even more special.
