On Thursday, September 27, the Department of Education, in partnership with the Regional Democratic Council of Region Six, held its annual awards ceremony to recognize the top-performing students and dedicated educators in the region.
The event celebrated the achievements of the top ten students from the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) exams and the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) for the 2023 and 2024 academic years.
Additionally, it honored teachers who have dedicated over 30 years of service to the education sector.
During the ceremony, the Senior Minister within the Office of the President, responsible for Finance and Public Service, addressed attendees, highlighting the government’s significant investments in the education sector.
He pointed out that these efforts have contributed to notable academic achievements across the country.
The Chairman of Region Six expressed pride in the purpose of the ceremony, which aims to celebrate the accomplishments of exceptional students and acknowledge the hard work of long-serving teachers.
The event also emphasized the importance of parental support in children’s education, encouraging parents to remain actively involved in their children’s academic journeys.
This annual ceremony not only recognized individual accomplishments but also aimed to inspire continued engagement in the education of young Guyanese, reinforcing the commitment to improving educational outcomes in the region.
