Region One Residents Benefit from Local Deeds and Commercial Registry Services

Residents of Region One were provided with essential Deeds and Commercial Registry services at a public engagement held at the Port Kaituma Community Centre on Monday.

The initiative aimed to make government services more accessible by bringing them directly to the local community.

The event allowed residents to access a range of services including business registration, powers of attorney, and notarization without the need to travel to Georgetown.

This local outreach is part of a broader effort by the government to improve service delivery and meet the needs of citizens across the country.

The Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Anil Nandlall, emphasized that this initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to decentralizing services.

By bringing these services closer to residents, the initiative seeks to reduce the burden of travel and make administrative processes more convenient for those in remote regions.

Residents expressed their appreciation for the initiative, noting that the ability to access these services locally has significantly eased the process and reduced associated costs.

The introduction of this service in Region One reflects a growing trend towards improving accessibility to government services and addressing the needs of communities throughout the country.

Looking ahead, it is expected that Region One will soon have its own dedicated Deeds and Commercial Registry office, further eliminating the need for travel to Georgetown or the Essequibo Coast.

Additionally, a team from the General Register Office is anticipated to return to the region to manage the high volume of cases related to birth certificate registrations.

This development marks a significant step towards enhancing local service delivery and ensuring that residents in Region One can more easily access essential government services.
