Residents of Region Nine have expressed appreciation for the government’s mobile services initiative, which recently brought essential services directly to their communities.
The three-day campaign, spearheaded by a team from the Ministry of Legal Affairs, along with the Deeds and Business Services Registration Authority, the Restorative Justice Centre, and other key agencies, began in Lethem and aimed to provide efficient, cost-effective access to government services.
The initiative was particularly welcomed by residents who have long faced challenges in obtaining necessary documents due to the difficulties associated with traveling to Georgetown or the Essequibo Coast.
By bringing these services closer to home, the mobile outreach has eased these burdens and provided residents with hassle-free access to vital services such as notarization, business registration, renewals, and registration of deed polls.
Glen Andrews, a honey producer from Parishara in Region Nine, shared his positive experience with the outreach.
He highlighted the challenges many villagers face in accessing information and services on time and noted that this initiative addresses a significant need within the community.
Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Anil Nandlall, encouraged residents to continue utilizing these services and to share their experiences with others to maximize the benefits of the program.
He emphasized the importance of community participation in ensuring the success of future outreach visits, aimed at expanding access to legal and business services in the hinterland.
The mobile services campaign is part of President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali’s broader initiative to bridge the gap between the coast and hinterland regions, ensuring that all citizens have equitable access to essential government services.
