Minister of Amerindian Affairs, Pauline Sukhai, addressed residents of Region 8 during a flag-raising ceremony in Mahdia, emphasizing the importance of their contribution to Guyana’s development.
Minister Sukhai highlighted the need for racial harmony, unity, and collective strength as the nation progresses.
She underscored the government’s focus on investing in human resources to improve the well-being of all Guyanese.
“It is our responsibility too to make the effort to upgrade ourselves for the imminent competition in the labour market ,” Minister Sukhai stated, urging citizens to take advantage of educational and training opportunities. “The private sector, entrepreneurial sector must raise also to the opportunities which exist now ,” she added.
The Minister pointed to significant government investments being made in Amerindian communities across the country.
This flag-raising ceremony served as a reminder of Guyana’s 58th Independence anniversary and a call to action for residents of Region 8 to actively participate in the country’s ongoing development.
