Regional authorities in Region Six have commenced budget consultations for 2025, meeting with head teachers from nursery, primary, and secondary schools to discuss the region’s education needs.
The discussions, led by Regional Executive Officer (REO) Narindra Persaud, aimed to ensure that the specific requirements of schools are represented in the upcoming budget.
While not all requests can be accommodated, Persaud assured teachers that the critical needs of their schools will be prioritized.
He encouraged head teachers to collaborate and submit their requests and to obtain a copy of the bill of quantities for projects planned for their schools.
This would enable them to monitor the progress of construction and other activities.
The consultations are part of the region’s commitment to ensuring that schools are adequately equipped to deliver quality education, thereby benefiting both students and the broader community.
By fostering a collaborative approach, the budgeting process is expected to reflect the needs of the educational sector more accurately.
