– 2nd sibling removed from parent’s home
The heartbreaking case of a 15-year-old mother from Region Two has taken a significant turn, as DNA results officially confirm the infant’s father is also a teenager. Meanwhile, authorities have taken steps to protect the minors connected to this case.
In an exclusive interview with NCN News, Minister of Human Services and Social Security, Dr. Vindhya Persaud, provided a somber update on the death of a teen mother from Region Two.
At just 15 years old, Aleena Preetam died earlier this month after giving birth. DNA results have confirmed that the infant’s father is also a teenager.
Minister Persaud emphasised that the Child Care and Protection Agency (CCPA) remains deeply involved in the case.
“Just to say the child protection agency is continuing to follow up on this case it’s not to know who the father is, it’s also to work with that young father and the family,” she said.
At the time of Preetam’s passing, the Ministry had alluded to a history of interventions in her household due to abuse claims.
According to the Minister, a sibling of the deceased teen mother has also been taken into the care of her ministry, while the infant is set to be placed with the paternal side of the family.
“We have moved her sibling from the home, we are working with that child and following the process as well, the child is in our care. So the baby will be release in the care of that father’s family,” the minister further explained.
