The successful National Easter Swim Program, which concluded at the National Aquatic Center, proved to be historic with a turnout of 2273 youths participating over a two-week period from March 26 to April 6.

According to head coach Paul Mahaica, this year’s program saw an impressive 1500 individuals learning to swim, facilitated by 60 coaches and a lifeguard.

Director of Sport Steve Ninvalle, speaking at the closing ceremony, emphasized the government’s commitment to providing necessary training for young people and adults in a safe environment, with funds allocated by the National Sport Commission.

Ninvalle announced plans to intensify the program this year, building upon its success.

He also highlighted the growth of the program, noting its inclusivity by providing opportunities for persons with disabilities.

The adult version of the program is scheduled to commence on May 1st at the National Aquatic Center.

Additionally, the National Sport Commission plans to host a lifeguard seminar in the coming months, featuring a specialist team from Canada.

The closing ceremony saw remarks from various officials, including Vice Chair of the National Sport Commission Cristy Campbell, Assistant Commissioner of Sports Franklyn Wilson, and Melisa Dow Richardson, among others.
