The Regional Democratic Council (RDC) convened its monthly statutory meeting on Thursday to address key regional issues, including health, infrastructure, and education.
One of the main topics discussed was the ongoing dengue fever mosquito fogging exercise.
The first phase of the program has reduced the number of reported dengue cases in the region to just two.
To further minimize the risk of outbreaks, a second phase of the fogging exercise is set to begin over the weekend.
Infrastructure challenges were also brought to the forefront, particularly the incomplete construction of the Bamia Primary School.
Despite receiving three extensions, the project remains unfinished and will not meet its intended September deadline.
In the education sector, the council discussed plans to reintroduce music programs in schools.
Additionally, a proposal to hire a crop assistant officer was put forward.
This officer would oversee the maintenance of school farms during vacation periods to ensure agricultural activities continue smoothly in the absence of students.
The topic is set for further discussion at the RDC’s upcoming education committee meeting.
