In an electrifying matchup at the National Gymnasium, the North Ruimveldt Ravens, captained by Dominic Vincente, secured a narrow victory against the Victory Valley Royals, the champions from Linden, during the Guyana Basketball Federation’s National and International tournament.
The final score was 81-79 after an intense overtime battle.
The game started with the Royals displaying strong offensive capabilities, taking an early lead of 19-10 in the first quarter.
They continued their dominance in the second quarter, outscoring the Ravens 13-9, which put them ahead at halftime.
However, the Ravens regrouped after the break and came back with renewed vigor in the third quarter, turning the tide by scoring 26 points to the Royals’ 15.
As the match progressed into the final quarter, the Royals responded with solid defense, outpacing the Ravens 26-24, leading to a dramatic tie at 69 points as the game clock expired.
In the overtime period, the Ravens showcased their resilience and determination, ultimately clinching the victory with a final score of 81-79.
The North Ruimveldt Ravens will next face Suriname’s champions, DeArend, on Saturday, September 21, at the same venue.
