Darius Ramsammy, Guyana’s leading bodybuilder and reigning Mr. Guyana, demonstrated his dominance on Sunday at the highly anticipated ‘Stage of Champions’ event organized by the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, held at the Ramada Princess Hotel.

After a hiatus since 2019, the event lived up to its hype, with approximately 25 athletes from Guyana, Grenada, Suriname, Barbados, and Trinidad and Tobago competing across three bodybuilding categories: welterweight, light heavyweight, and heavyweight, as well as men’s physique and bikini divisions.
Leading up to the Stage of Champions, Darius Ramsammy boldly declared that he would not allow anyone to claim the top spot on his home turf. True to his word, the muscular Guyanese defended his territory successfully, securing the ultimate bragging rights.
Ramsammy initially dominated the light heavyweight category, earning a place in the final pose-off for the overall title. In the final showdown, he faced formidable opponents, including heavyweight class winner Anthony Nekery from Suriname, who narrowly defeated Central America and Caribbean gold medalists, Julio Sinclair and Nicholas Albert.
Also vying for the overall Stage of Champion bodybuilding title was welterweight winner Lewis Sanynaseed from Barbados, who surpassed local competitors Selwyn Grogan and Joel Celdena to claim the top spot.
In the ultimate pose-down for top honors, Darius Ramsammy showcased his unparalleled physique, leaving the competition in his wake and securing the prestigious Stage of Champions crown. Nekery and Lewis took second and third places, respectively.
The men’s physique division witnessed the continued reign of Emerson Campbell, who maintained his unblemished Stage of Champions record by clinching his sixth consecutive title, living up to his moniker ‘Mr. Showtime.’ Campbell faced fierce competition from the likes of Suriname’s Rafael Komoleange, who secured second place, and Grenada’s Odel Cato, who claimed third.
In the bikini contest, Suriname’s Charelle Meyers, strutting confidently across the stage, captivated the audience with her toned and muscled frame. She delighted the adoring spectators as she flawlessly executed the three mandatory poses.
Local contestant Melitha Anderson secured second place in the bikini division, surpassing Christian Ramsammy and reigning Ms. Bikini Hannah Rampersaud, who rounded out the top four positions.
