In a remarkable achievement coinciding with World Environment Day, Gabriella Arjun, a student from Queens College, has been named Guyana’s Youth Environmental Speaker 2024.

This prestigious title was awarded to Arjun as the culmination of the SHOUT 2.0 Competition, a collaborative initiative between local NGO Recover Guyana, the Ministry of Education, and ExxonMobil Guyana, along with other partners.

Throughout the SHOUT 2.0 competition, Arjun exhibited exceptional resilience, courage, and a deep passion for environmental conservation.

Her unwavering dedication led her to emerge victorious, earning her a series of accolades, including a laptop, an environmental award, a health voucher, and a generous $500,000 check for her school.

In an exclusive interview with NCN NEWS, Arjun candidly shared the challenges she encountered on her journey to becoming Guyana’s Youth Environmental Speaker 2024, underscoring the importance of perseverance and commitment in pursuing environmental advocacy.

Meanwhile, Samarah Nazamodeen, representing President College, who secured the position of second runner-up, and Tramain Clarke from Mariam Academy, the third runner-up, offered insightful advice to aspiring participants for the next year’s competition.

The second edition of SHOUT aimed to engage more youth in environmental activism, foster meaningful dialogue, and catalyze positive changes within school environments.
