As Guyana experiences rapid economic growth, the importance of maintaining a clean and beautiful environment was underscored during the 10th National Cleanup exercise held earlier today.
The initiative brought together senior government officials, members of the joint services, representatives from private and public sectors, and volunteers in a collective effort to promote environmental cleanliness.
Minister within the Ministry of Public Works, Deodat Indar, took the lead at the Kingston Seawall alongside the joint services.
He emphasized that a cleaner Guyana aligns with the country’s development goals, urging citizens to take pride in maintaining their surroundings.
Meanwhile, Public Works Minister Juan Edghill highlighted the need for patriotism through adherence to local environmental laws, likening it to the discipline Guyanese display when abroad.
Both ministers stressed that the fight against littering and improper waste disposal is crucial to sustaining Guyana’s aesthetics and fostering national pride.
Since its launch by President Irfaan Ali, the nationwide cleanup initiative has aimed to reduce illegal dumping sites and improve waste management practices, contributing to a greener and more beautiful country.
