Public servants in Berbice welcome the announcement that they will be among the first to receive the $100,000 cash grant in their bank accounts.
Finanace Minister Dr. Ashni Singh has said that the payment is expected to be made this week.
The cash grant is a promise made by President Dr. Irfaan Ali, with some 62 billion dollars allocated to finanace its rollout.
Finanace Minister Dr. Ashni Singh, made the announcement last Thursday, noting that public servants will be the first to receive the grant, followed by other eligible Guyanese, living in Guyana.
The announcement was welcomed by Public servants in Berbice.
Accountant, Melissa Sharper told NCN News that the grant will be a great help in easing travel expenses. She said, “This cash grant will benefit me by easing some of my expenses to and from RDC 6, it will assist me in paying some of my bills,”
Accounts Clerk Kristen Mohabir also welcomes the news that she will be among the first tranche of persons to receive her grant.
“I am happy and excited because we are the first persons that will be receiving it,” she expressed.
Andrew Dhanraj, who is a teacher, said, “I would like to express my gratitude to the government of Guyana and more so by extension the PPP/C administration that is led by H.E. Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali the President.”
Anjinie Howard, who works as an Admin Clerk, said that the intervention comes at an opportune time for her.
“Getting a free hundred thousand from the government it will come in good use because right now I need it,” Howard relayed.
Meanwhile, an online digital platform will be launched through which Guyanese age 18 and older will be able to self-register for the grant.
