Progress Underway for Diamond Regional Hospital Set for December 2024 Completion

Works progressing on Diamond Regional Hospital

The completed construction of the new Diamond Regional Hospital is scheduled for in December 2024.

From the last visit to the present date, the construction of the Diamond Regional Hospital has advanced from the foundation stage to the installation of steel frames.

The hospital, one of six regional facilities planned across Guyana, is designed to accommodate 75 beds, three operating theaters with basic surgical capacity, and digitalized systems, including a full radiology diagnostic suite.

Dr. Leslie Ramsammy, Advisor to the Health Minister, explained that the introduction of digital services will enhance service delivery, preventing the need for repeated procedures when patients receive referrals.

The new hospital will function as a level 4 healthcare delivery facility, aligning it with the standards of the New Amsterdam and Linden Hospitals.
