Minister of Sport, Charles Ramson Jr, provided an update on the government’s ambitious sports infrastructure projects, expressing confidence that major developments in stadium construction will progress significantly in 2025.

These projects are part of the broader vision set by President Irfaan Ali’s administration to improve Guyana’s sporting sector.

The Mackenzie Stadium in Linden is the closest to completion, with significant work underway.

Minister Ramson announced that the installation of essential facilities at the stadium will be completed by May 2025.

Additionally, contracts have been awarded for the construction of the stadium’s fence, parking lot, and sight screen, expected to be finalized by mid-2025.

Meanwhile, the Anna Regina Stadium is progressing rapidly, with Minister Ramson noting significant developments in the ongoing construction.

At Bayroc, a synthetic track has already been installed, and further work is in progress on other key aspects of the planned sports activities.

The stands at the New Amsterdam Stadium are also nearing completion, with the tendering process for the park and fencing completed.

While contracts have not yet been issued for these elements, the facility’s opening remains on schedule.

Finally, Ramson spoke about the Palmyra Stadium, a first-of-its-kind facility, emphasizing that the government is aiming for its completion as soon as feasible.
