The advancing works at the New Amsterdam Synthetic Track, with Minister of Sport Charles Ramson Jr. overseeing the installation of FIFA-standard stadium lights aims to enhance facilities nationwide, including the construction of this state-of-the-art track.

Minister Ramson notes that progress is steady, with the pavilion nearing completion and plans to lay the synthetic materials on the track.

Once finished, the track will offer top-notch training facilities for athletes, enabling immediate training for aspiring talents.

This rapid progression underscores the government’s commitment to nurturing sporting talent in Guyana.

The Minister highlights the recent success of Guyanese athletes at regional and international events, crediting these achievements to the government’s investments in sports.

Additionally, he emphasizes upcoming initiatives, including an elite training program and collaborations with the US Embassy, aimed at further enhancing Guyana’s sporting prowess.

Upon completion, the eight-lane, 400-meter track will benefit numerous athletes in the East Berbice-Corentyne Region and create job opportunities.
