Hundreds of young people gathered at the Watooka Guest House in Linden for the first Job Fair hosted by ProChant Guyana, a Government of Guyana initiative.
This event, part of a pilot project aimed at increasing youth employability, was supported by a $12.6 million government investment.
Site Manager of ProChant Guyana, Candacy Griffith, explained that the training programme focuses on providing the first BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) certification and skills development.
The programme is designed to foster talent, creativity, and readiness for the demands of the global workforce.
Griffith encouraged attendees to take full advantage of this opportunity, highlighting its role as a stepping stone in their professional journey.
Chief Executive Officer of Go-Invest, Dr. Peter Ramsaroop, spoke to the gathering, assuring the youth that every region of Guyana would benefit from the country’s rapid growth.
He emphasized the importance of determination and drive for success.
Minister of Public Works, Bishop Juan Edghill, also addressed the crowd, emphasizing the government’s long-term plans for sustainable development in Linden.
He urged participants to seize the opportunity, ensuring their professional growth and contributing to the town’s future prosperity.
At the conclusion of the programme, 100 young people are expected to be employed, marking a significant step toward building a skilled workforce in the region.
