Priyanna Ramdhani Gears Up for Pan American Games and Eyes Paris Olympics

As the Guyana contingent readies itself for the Pan American Senior Championship in Santiago, Chile, Priyanna Ramdhani, the country’s sole badminton qualifier, is poised for the high-level competition after a year of dedicated training.

Badminton events are scheduled from October 21 to 25, with Ramdhani competing in the women’s singles category.

Having steadily progressed since transitioning from junior ranks, she has participated in 34 international-level matches, securing 14 wins and experiencing 20 losses in singles.

In doubles, she maintains a commendable 11-4 win-loss ratio, while in mixed doubles, she has achieved 16 wins against 19 losses.

The 21-year-old recognizes the significance of this competition in her quest to secure a spot in the Paris Olympics in 2024.

Ramdhani’s recent successes include securing silver in both women’s and mixed doubles at the Trinidad Badminton Invitational alongside local player Akili Haynes.

In the women’s singles, she advanced to the round of 16. At the Central America and Caribbean Games, she reached the quarter-finals in mixed doubles with Narayan Ramdhani and the second round in women’s singles.

Ramdhani’s campaign at the Pan American Games will commence in the round of 32, where she will face Brazil’s Juliana Vieira.

Accompanying her is coach and former national player, Jonathan Mangra.

This competition represents a pivotal step for Ramdhani as she strives to make her mark on the international badminton stage.
