Priyanna Ramdhani and Akili Haynes Claim Singles Titles at Gokarn Ramdhani Memorial Badminton Tournament

Top national badminton star Priyanna Ramdhani clinched the Women’s Singles title at the Gokarn Ramdhani Memorial Badminton Tournament, held at the National Gymnasium.

In a dominant performance, Ramdhani defeated Mishka Beharry 21-12, 21-7 in the final.

Earlier, Ramdhani secured her spot in the final by beating Asiyah Eastman in the semifinals 21-11, 21-6, while Beharry triumphed over Menikshi Jaikisson 21-10, 21-15 in her semifinal.

In the Men’s Singles final, Akili Haynes took home the victory after defeating Tyrese Jeffrey 25-23, 21-9.

Haynes reached the final by overcoming Avinash Odit 21-12, 21-18 in the semis, while Jeffrey bested Nkosi Beaton 21-17, 21-19.

In other categories, Frank Waddell and Mishka Beharry won the Under 19 Mixed Doubles, defeating Joanathan Debidin and Leshaunte Berkley 21-16, 20-22, 21-18.

The Under 17 Girls Doubles final saw Menikshi Jaikisson and Gabrielle Felix win 21-7, 21-14 over Nevaeh Eastman and Malia Haley, while brothers Egan and Ethan Bulkan won the Under 15 Boys Doubles 21-10, 21-10 against Mohamed Farouk and Joel Rambirche.

In the Under 13 Mixed Doubles, Joel Rambirche and Anjaneysa Godette triumphed 21-2, 21-2 over Christopher Harrison and Anyha Hassan.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Felix and Mishka Beharry won the Under 17 Mixed Doubles, overcoming Ruel Rambriche and Gabrielle Felix 21-16, 21-19.

The Under 19 Boys Doubles Final was won by Frank Waddell and Joanathan Debidin, who defeated Ruel Rambirche and Vishal Gopaul 21-14, 21-17, while Mishka Beharry and Leshaunte Berkley emerged victorious in the Under 19 Girls Doubles, overcoming Neveah Eastman and Malia Haley 21-5, 21-16.

The competition, sponsored by Massy Distribution through their Blue Water brand, SOL Guyana, and Amaila Car Rentals, saw representatives Kareem Munroe, Ayanna Watson, and Chet Bowling on hand to present the prizes.
