By Saskia Warrick | January 21, 2025

The Private Sector Commission (PSC) has expressed strong approval of the 2025 national budget, calling it transformative and comprehensive.

The budget is designed to drive economic growth while supporting ordinary citizens, businesses, and vital sectors of the economy.

Building on the successes of Budget 2024, members of the private sector noted that Budget 2025 continues the focus on growth, with an emphasis on tax reforms, workforce development, private sector growth, and infrastructure.

PSC Chairman, Komal Singh, praised the government’s commitment to sustainability and inclusivity, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors.

He believes that the budget’s approach aligns with the country’s long-term development goals.

Natasha Gaskin-Peters, Director of the Centre for Local Business Development, pointed out that sectors like healthcare, education, and construction will see increased investment, providing job opportunities and empowering local businesses to bid on large projects.

Kester Hutson, President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), described the budget as “ambitious,” noting key measures such as the Movable Property Security Rights Bill, which aims to enhance access to finance for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

With the budget presentation now complete, the fiscal measures will be debated in the National Assembly starting on Friday, January 24, at 10 AM.
