Dengue is more common in tropical and subtropical climates.

Most people who get dengue won’t have symptoms.

However, for those who do, the most common symptoms are high fever, headache, body aches, nausea, and rash.

While most people recover within 1–2 weeks, some develop severe dengue, requiring hospitalization.

In severe cases, dengue can be fatal.

The Ministry of Health advises avoiding dengue by preventing mosquito bites.

Dr. Reza Niles, speaking on the program ‘Health Matters’, emphasizes taking precautions to control mosquitoes both inside and outside the home.

This includes ensuring that there are shades and screens on windows and doors to reduce mosquito entry and using mosquito repellents and nets to protect oneself.

The Ministry of Health’s Vector Control Department has been conducting fogging exercises to reduce the mosquito population.

Citizens are encouraged to open all windows to allow the mist to enter their homes, adequately protect all food items, cover all drinking water, and secure pets and poultry.

People with asthma are advised to keep away from the fogging droplets.
