The President’s Youth Advisory Council (PYAC) has officially launched a Healthy Living and Lifestyle Choices Campaign aimed at promoting better health among youths in Better Hope and surrounding communities on the East Coast of Demerara.

This initiative is part of the government’s broader objective to enhance healthcare nationwide by addressing poor health choices.

The campaign focuses on educational discussions about healthy eating habits, monitoring sugar intake, and creating balanced dietary plans.

PYAC member Lee Fung-A-Fat highlighted the importance of fostering a healthy lifestyle, emphasizing the need for the community to understand sugar content in their diets and to educate both younger and older generations about nutritional choices.

As part of its outreach efforts, the initiative will initially target Region Four, with plans to expand to Region Five and other areas.

This month, the focus is on diabetes, a prevalent health issue in Guyana, with future topics likely to include cardiac health.

Participants in the campaign engaged in enjoyable physical and educational activities led by PYAC members, promoting a holistic approach to health and wellness.

The initiative aims to empower youths to make informed lifestyle choices while encouraging community involvement in health education.

Through this campaign, the PYAC is working to create a healthier, more informed generation, striving to combat health challenges and improve the overall well-being of communities in Guyana.
