President Irfaan Ali Unveils Agricultural Projects and Road Works in East Bank Demerara Communities

In a recent visit to communities on the East Bank of Demerara, President Irfaan Ali announced plans for agricultural projects and committed to a series of road works.

The president engaged with residents, focusing on boosting food production and addressing community infrastructure needs.

Youths in Mocha Arcadia, East Bank Demerara, will soon benefit from agricultural projects designed to enhance local food production.

President Ali emphasized the importance of involving young people and single mothers in food production and agriculture.

The proposed projects include initiatives such as pig rearing, livestock and poultry farming, hydroponics, and shade houses.

President Ali’s visit marked his fourth engagement with the community, where previous commitments, including road and drainage works, livestock and seedling distribution, were fulfilled.

These commitments, valued at millions of dollars, have contributed to the community’s development.

During the visit, President Ali extended his commitments to other areas, such as Farm, Convent Garden, and Herstelling.

He emphasized the importance of completing infrastructure projects in areas with 75% or higher occupancy, highlighting the role of barriers in preserving infrastructure.

Residents raised concerns during the meeting, including issues with drainage and irrigation, road conditions, water quality, and the availability of planting materials.

President Ali assured the community that these concerns would be addressed, reiterating his commitment to community development.

Accompanied by government ministers, agency heads, and community leaders, President Ali’s visit aimed to understand the community’s needs and provide solutions to enhance the overall living conditions.

The announced agricultural projects and road works align with the government’s efforts to promote sustainable development and improve infrastructure across the country.
