At the opening of the Inaugural International Business Conference, President Dr. Irfaan Ali outlined a forward-thinking strategy for enhanced energy collaboration between Guyana and Suriname.
He highlighted the potential for both countries to optimize their gas resources and position themselves as key players in regional development.
Dr. Ali discussed how both nations could take advantage of competitive energy prices to foster growth in manufacturing and industrial sectors.
He also noted the significant opportunity to invest in advanced technologies, particularly AI-driven data centers.
By aligning their energy resources with such innovations, the President believes Guyana and Suriname could bring future technologies to the region by 2027, enhancing their role in global strategic development.
In his address, Dr. Ali stressed the importance of continuously evaluating the policy framework between the two nations to ensure mutual benefits and long-term success.
The President also shared that the government is actively pursuing the development of a second gas-to-energy power plant, aimed at addressing Guyana’s rapidly growing energy needs.
This project is in line with the country’s expansion and increasing demand for power.
