The 32nd Congress of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) commenced today with a resounding call from President Dr. Irfaan Ali for Guyanese to unite under the banner of One Guyana to usher in transformative change for all citizens.

Addressing a record attendance of over 3000 delegates and observers at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, President Ali emphasized the importance of unity and progress under the theme ‘Strengthening the party, Defend Guyana, Unite our people for progress and prosperity.’

President Ali reiterated his party’s commitment to the development of Guyana and its people, emphasizing equitable distribution of resources without discrimination.

He highlighted the significant increase in budgetary allocations to various regions since assuming office, demonstrating the government’s commitment to the One Guyana principle.

“In region 1, the allocations increased by 146%. Region 2 saw a 119% increase, Region 3 – 132%, Region 4 – 92%, Region 5 – 73%, Region 6 – 101%, Region 7 – 155%, Region 8 – 166%, Region 9 – 127%, and Region 10 – 187%. Where is the discrimination?” President Ali questioned, underlining the government’s inclusive approach to regional development.

The concept of One Guyana, according to President Ali, emerged from the party’s introspection during the last congress.

He emphasized the PPP’s dedication to building the nation and combating narratives of racism, affirming the party’s status as a true national representative of Guyanese aspirations.

“This party that we are part of has never been on such solid footing in the history of our party. I repeat this, this is the strongest the People’s Progressive Party has ever been,” President Ali proclaimed, highlighting the party’s resilience and unity.

President Ali urged Guyanese to uphold democratic principles and unite for the country’s success.

He outlined various government-led development programs aimed at transforming lives and positioning Guyana as a global leader across multiple sectors.

As the 32nd Congress unfolds, President Ali’s call for unity and progress resonates deeply, setting the stage for a future marked by inclusivity, prosperity, and national cohesion.
