President Ali’s Vision: Guyana as the Sports and Entertainment Hub

President Irfaan Ali has set forth an ambitious goal for Guyana: to become the hub of entertainment and sports in the Caribbean.

He emphasized the need for the country’s tourism and sports experiences to be unparalleled.

President Ali highlighted the region’s renowned reputation in sports, particularly cricket, football, and athletics, as well as entertainment events like carnivals and concerts.

He stressed that Guyana must maintain and strengthen its standing in these areas, pointing to Saudi Arabia’s significant strides in the field.

To achieve this, the President urged for innovative and competitive approaches, emphasizing the necessity to think outside the conventional framework.

President Ali also shared his vision for the music industry’s growth, envisioning significant progress by 2030 and beyond.

The 2023 Caribbean Premiere League, which recently concluded in Guyana, drew over 400,000 attendees in September.

The President aims to further bolster tourism, targeting one million visitors and positioning Guyana’s tourism experience at the forefront.
