President Irfaan Ali has addressed residents of Region One, urging them not to be misled by Venezuela’s acts of antagonism and to avoid succumbing to fear.
The Commander in Chief assured the residents that efforts are underway to enhance the Guyana Defence Force’s (GDF) capacity, especially in border areas.
President Ali, accompanied by Chief of Staff Brigadier Omar Khan, provided updates on the preparations to protect Guyana’s territorial integrity.
While expressing hope that Venezuela would not act recklessly, he emphasized that nothing is being taken for granted in safeguarding Guyana.
The President urged residents not to be swayed by Venezuela’s narrative and assured them that both the GDF and the Guyana Police Force are receiving reinforcements for internal security.
Residents shared their thoughts on the President’s visit, appreciating the assurance and expressing a sense of increased safety.
This visit is part of a series of measures to spread awareness and reassure citizens about the ongoing efforts to prevent the annexation of the Essequibo region.
Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo is scheduled to engage with Essequibo residents on November 26 at Anna Regina.
