President Ali Unveils Development Initiatives for Ann’s Grove and Surrounding Areas

President Irfaan Ali has pledged various interventions, including agricultural training, road rehabilitation, and enhanced drainage systems, during a visit to Ann’s Grove and nearby communities along the East Coast Demerara corridor.

In a community meeting, a committee was established comprising three residents to collaborate with the Guyana Livestock Development Authority (GLDA), National Drainage & Irrigation Authority (NDIA), and the Ministry of Public Works.

NDIA Chairman, Lionel Wordsworth, assured ongoing cooperation with the CDC group for the monthly maintenance of approximately 6,000 drainage and irrigation channels in Ann’s Grove, Two Friends, Bee-Hive, and the Greenfield areas.

GLDA CEO, Dwight Waldron, outlined upcoming projects, including a duck-rearing program, as part of efforts to boost the agricultural landscape in the region.

President Ali announced that the committee would identify women and single parents for participation in projects such as beekeeping, egg production, and the black giant chicken initiative.

Simultaneously, the completion of several bridges in Ann’s Grove is underway, with a comprehensive report set to be compiled on highlighted issues, paving the way for work commencement in approximately three weeks.

The President’s outreach signifies a commitment to holistic development and community engagement in the specified areas.
