President Irfaan Ali has revealed that his administration is set to embark on a series of major infrastructural projects over the next three to four years.
While Guyana is presently experiencing significant economic and infrastructural growth, President Irfaan Ali emphasizes that these efforts are aimed at addressing the immediate needs of the nation.
Looking ahead, the government is poised to undertake an even more extensive range of projects, envisioning a fully connected country through an extensive network of roads and bridges.
President Ali also highlighted the crucial role of a deep-water port and its link to Northern Brazil in this expansive plan.
The government is set to open up new lands for investment, with a focus on sectors such as tourism, agriculture, mining, and quarrying. This initiative is expected to usher in substantial investments and development, representing what President Ali terms the ‘third generation of transformational projects’.
President Ali underscored that the construction sector has witnessed a remarkable 40 percent growth. In the first half of the year, an impressive $40.6 billion was expended on enhancing roads and bridges.
This announcement was made during the commissioning of a $20 million quarry at Batavia, Region 7, over the weekend.
