President Dr. Irfaan Ali continued his regional outreach in Region One, unveiling plans for extensive agricultural development spanning hundreds of acres of land.
During his visit to communities such as Hotoquai and Canal Bank in Mabaruma, President Ali announced ambitious plans to develop 250 acres of land for crop cultivation in a central area of Mabaruma.
He outlined specific crop targets, including dedicating 50 acres to pineapple cultivation, 100 acres to plantain production, and expanding ginger and turmeric production, among other initiatives.
President Ali emphasized collaboration with residents and the Guyana Marketing Corporation to ensure fair pricing and facilitate export opportunities for these crops.
Additionally, in response to residents’ concerns about crop losses due to pests and weather, the President pledged to provide planting materials and interim produce to support farming efforts.
In Canal Bank, President Ali engaged with residents to address various community needs, including improving internet connectivity, enhancing agricultural support through the Ministry of Agriculture, and facilitating large-scale production on 150 acres of land allocated among farmers.
Beyond agriculture, President Ali committed to modernizing healthcare facilities, such as the Medex quarters in Canal Bank, and deploying medical personnel to better serve the community.
Initiatives also include the provision of a canter in Fitzburg, Port Kaituma, demonstrating a holistic approach to regional development.
President Ali’s outreach underscores his administration’s dedication to promoting agricultural sustainability, enhancing infrastructure, and improving healthcare access in Region One.
