President Irfaan Ali has called for the delivery of world-class health and education services across all ten administrative regions of Guyana, emphasizing the importance of both greater accessibility and quality for every citizen.

This directive follows a significant meeting with regional executive officers, health officers, education officers, and cabinet ministers.

In a detailed engagement on Tuesday, President Ali addressed ongoing investments in the health and education sectors, acknowledging areas of inefficiency while reiterating the government’s vision of a people-centered approach.

He highlighted the implementation of a demand chart system across regions to ensure uninterrupted medical supplies, reducing patient reliance on distant facilities for essential medications.

Simultaneously, the government is making strides to rehabilitate and modernize infrastructure, alongside the continuous training of healthcare and education personnel to uphold the highest standards of service.

“We want to ensure that every citizen receives services at the optimum level,” President Ali stated.

To ensure effective implementation, program heads in each region will be given clear mandates and held accountable for efficient and transparent service delivery.

Additionally, the establishment of quality assurance bodies, composed of civil society members, will help monitor consistency in service across the regions.

The government is also addressing human resource challenges in these sectors, working to alleviate shortages and inefficiencies while strengthening community-based oversight to further improve accountability and service delivery.
