President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali says Guyana is stepping up support for Jamaica in the wake of Hurricane Melissa.
He announced that Guyana is mobilizing manpower, materials, and other resources to help rebuild 200 damaged roofs in some of the hardest-hit communities.
He made the commitment during a high-level CARICOM Goodwill Mission.
In addition to Guyana’s help, Prime Ministers of Barbados, Grenada, and Antigua are also contributing.
Meanwhile, the Jamaican Prime Minister Andre Hollness said that he is appreciative of the solidarity shown by CARICOM leaders and their international partners.
He said with shared purpose and continued collaboration, Jamaica will rebuild stronger.
