In a generous show of commitment to the elderly care sector, President Irfaan Ali donated one million dollars to the Dharm Shala, Home of Benevolence, during the institution’s annual Christmas Day Luncheon.
This donation, aimed at enhancing the care and facilities for the elderly, comes as part of the President’s continued support for the institution, which has been vital in providing a safe and supportive environment for senior citizens in Guyana.
The Dharm Shala has long been dedicated to helping the elderly navigate the challenges of aging, offering them the care and compassion they deserve.
President Ali, who has visited the institution annually for several years, emphasized that the elderly residents are not a burden but equal members of society, deserving of respect, dignity, and support.
Reflecting on the importance of caring for this demographic, he described it as “a family of humanity.”
In addition to his donation, President Ali took time from his busy schedule to personally serve the elderly during the Christmas Luncheon, demonstrating his ongoing dedication to ensuring their well-being.
